The Grange Bag - Obi, 1
From evening to barefoot elegance, it really does it all. The Grange Bag is a statement bag, bar none. And a new concept — I’m designing one-a-of-kind pieces, within the brand of the ‘Grange Bag’.
Why the Grange bag? Grange Halls have been important to me for most of my life. They go way back to 1857 (pre-dating me), and were a means to encourage families to band together to promote the economic and political well-being of the community and agriculture. It sounds like a good idea, right? And very important these days, all over again. (Lesser known fact—Grange Hall was my favorite New York City restaurant back in the ‘90’s).
The Grange bag - Obi, I is made from a Climate Beneficial Wool shearling, which is backed in a beautiful sateen cotton/linen basket weave. The back of the bag is made of a vintage obi and has a drawstring closure, laden with rows of tiny mother of pearl buttons, ones that I have collected since the 90’s.
Grown & sewn, by hand, in California.
I work with the uniqueness of the shearling and design into it’s shape, creating a truly one-of-a-kind bag.
The Grange bag- Obi, 1 is the first piece of a numbered collection. I will continue to feature new shapes, as they emerge.
UPDATE—Obi-1 has been sold, I was overwhelmed by the response to the design. Please email me to be on the waitlist for the next.
As an ag girl from my beginnings in the midwest, I love helping people find meaningful ways of connecting to ranchers, farms and the land. Connecting in a way that makes us & Mother Earth stronger. The purchase of this bag ensures soil health & revenue for the ranchers who continue to invest into the land, sequestering carbon, creating jobs & keeping us all safe.
